Maiah was a Ph.D. student through 2026. Her thesis was titled: “Mental health help-seeking among Black emerging adults: Facilitators, barriers, and the moderating role of developmental period.”

arlenis santana, Ph.d.
Dr. Santana earned her PhD in May 2023 and completed her Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award (IRACDA) Postdoctoral Fellowship in August 2025. Her dissertation was titled “Youth and caregivers’ perceptions of racial socialization: Examining the interactive role of risk and cultural resilience factors as predictors and mental health as outcomes. Dr. Santana’s first position after her Postdoc was a Family Liaison in Richmond Public Schools.

Chloe Walker, Ph.D
Dr. Walker earned her PhD in May 2022. Her dissertation was titled: “Processes underlying Black American college students’ mental health: Examining the roles of mental health literacy, ethnic-racial identity, and mental health-related behaviors.” Dr. Walker’s first position after graduating was a Program Data Analyst/Senior Manager of Program, Impact, & Learning position at New Leaders, Inc.

Eryn DeLaney, Ph.D
Dr. DeLaney earned her PhD in May 2022. Her dissertation was titled: “Interpersonal trauma and mental health among LGBQ+ college students: Examining social support and trauma-related drinking as mediators.” Dr. DeLaney’s first position after graduating was a Sport Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.

Dr. Elias earned her PhD in May 2022. Her dissertation was titled: “A moderated mediation test of family relations predicting academic achievement via belonging: The moderating effects of family legacy and gender among Cuban emerging adults.”

Selamawit Hailu, M.S.
Selamawit earned her M.S. in March 2018. She was an affiliated graduate student in lab, completing her degree in Clinical Psychology. Her thesis was titled: “Skin tone and academic achievement among 5-year-old Mexican-American children.” Selamawit’s first position after graduating was as the founder and director of the Human Connection, LLC.
